The Jigsaw of Summertime

Does anyone else feel like they are reading (or designing) a road map for their kiddos’ summer endeavors?

All I know is my summers were *not* given this much attention. My brother Lawson and I had the best time— though I seriously can only recall ONE specific summer when there was ONE camp for ONE week–his was basketball and mine was tennis. Other than that, we spent every free moment in our neighborhood with friends, cooling down with Flav-o-Ice popsicles (like a half dozen at a time– each), in front of some insanely rich re-run television (most likely of the Growing Pains/Family Ties variety)– a few beach trips, and most likely headed to beloved Lake Summit, NC– every Friday through Sunday– or longer if we could convince my Dad to commute :)

I can’t decide if I’m overthinking it, over-scheduling them or just doing the norm. Sometimes I’m just tempted to save the time and money, keep them locked up here at Camp KamJam, show them some classic TV, scour the internet for a bulk Flav-o-Ice delivery and enjoy some outdoor adventures and crafts. Take it back to the basics. Keep it retro.

…Instead we are signed up for Ecology, Sign Language (?), Cheerleading and Horseback camps. Soooooo….I’ll report back mid-summer for my evaluation and where I stand on resuming applications for Camp KamJam. Stay tuned…
