TIPsy Tuesday: Lemon Know Whatcha Think.

It’s time for a little household tip!

Maybe you’ll have heard this or maybe you’ll think I’m a genius. Here’s hoping for the latter.  I’ve been on a lemon kick long enough now where I guess I can no longer call it a kick. Lemons in beverages, with meals, as a snack, etc are part of my everyday these days. I am buying them bulk at every farmers market or grocery I can. I planted a lemon tree in hopes of great things. Fingers crossed. My hippie side likes most everything possible to have two uses (at least) before heading to the landfil (or in this case, down the pipes). We have all heard that putting used lemons in the disposal can help fight the yuck and maybe help in revving up the disposal blades– and that’s great! 2-3 uses right there!– but how many lemons can one put down there in a week before an issue occurs, I wonder? So as not to feel “wasteful” about just pitching them in the trash (after that good squeeze), I’ve now been using them as a kitchen sink scrubber. The abrasiveness/acidy and the texture of the already squeezed pulp/flesh/whatever really helps get those dirty dishes ship-shape. Go ahead, consume those fabulous benefits from lemons in your daily diet– and then get to scrubbing dishes all while enjoying that fresh, mood-elevating citrusy-ness. Winning.
