Know When to Fold ‘Em.
At what point do we know when to trash or treasure our kiddos’ artwork? I have a child that shows some talent in the artistic arena, and being my oldest, I’ve been sentimental about keeping all of her goods. Though now that my younger two are contributing to the art hoarding (albeit maybe not as gifted — yet :), I’ve decided it’s time to take a stand. I mean, will she even appreciate her little writer’s workshop book in years to come? Will she even be able to find it when she’s walking around knee-deep in the dungeon of doodles I’ve been saving for her?
I know many parents are fans of the Artkive app, which saves pictures of their work and compiles them into neat little books. Very cool concept, but I haven’t even started a baby book for my 3 year old (and not to mention my 1 year old), so I have some work to do before I take on another book project.
While we are on the subject (diagnosable hoarding behaviors), I hear there is an incredible documentary we all need to watch: Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things. It’s top of the to-do list and will report back soon on this…..that is, if I’m not too busy pitching sh*t.
❤️❤️❤️This. Huge fan of life is better with less. Great writing Garrett
